Morena Boulevard Lane and Sidewalk Closures between Gesner Street and Jellett Street: Starting February 19, a sidewalk closure and traffic controls will be in effect on northbound Morena Boulevard to accommodate ongoing Mid-Coast Trolley construction activities. Marian Bear Memorial Park: Crews have fenced off an area within the Rose Creek Channel, near the existing railroad tracks, for construction activities and staging equipment purposes. There will be no access along the Rose Creek channel between Marian Bear Memorial Park and Rose Creek open space. Users of the Marian Bear Park trail should avoid entering or passing through the construction area. Please follow direction of the posted signs.
Parking Lot Closures for Transit Center Improvements: UPDATE: This work will continue Monday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 18. Beginning Monday, July 26, and continuing intermittently through Monday, August 9, full closures of the parking lots at the Old Town Transit Center will be in place as crews make improvements to the those lots. Improvement activities include cleaning and layout inspections, and concrete repairs and replacement. Closures will rotate intermittently throughout the different parking lots. Two parking lots may be closed at a time, but access will be maintained to the remaining lot. Crews will begin improvement activities in the north parking lot and will work their way south. La Jolla Village Square Surface Parking Area Closures: UPDATE: In late June, crews will begin the third of four phases in their effort to reconfigure the La Jolla Village Square surface parking area. This is a continuation of work that began on March 2, 2021 to improve access to the Nobel Drive Trolley Station parking structure as well as overall traffic flow. Construction activities will include asphalt demolition, new asphalt and concrete placement, lighting installations, striping, and landscaping. Typical work hours will be Mondays through Fridays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work will be phased and completed in fenced-off sections of the parking area. Access to businesses, the mall entrance, the underground parking garage, and the Nobel Drive Trolley Station parking structure will be maintained at all times. Work is expected to be completed by fall 2021. In anticipation of this work, the Nobel Drive Trolley Station parking structure opened to the public on February 28, 2021, and is available for use by retail patrons.

Friars Road: In fall 2016, crews began work along Friars Road between Sea World Drive and Napa Street to build the San Diego River Bridge Double Track project in advance of construction on the Mid Coast Trolley project. Several traffic control phases involving multiple lane closures and shifts will be implemented in this area throughout the course of the project to help facilitate this work. The concrete barrier railing that has been placed on Friars Road is to support both projects and also is expected to last throughout the project duration.

The closure is required for the Voigt Drive Improvements Project, which will realign Voigt Drive and Campus Point Drive permanently to provide direct access to the future Voigt Drive Trolley Station and to improve traffic flow in the area. The closure began Monday, April 20 and is anticipated to continue through fall 2021. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., though occasional nighttime and weekend work may be required. Traffic controls will be in place including temporary traffic signals, temporary wayfinding and detour signage, and roadway and sidewalk reconfigurations. UPDATE: Beginning July 6, 2020, access to and from Scripps Health facilities via Voigt Drive will be closed. Both inbound and outbound access will be closed for approximately one month while crews rebuild the driveway and adjacent roadway. Once complete, crews will restore inbound access to Scripps Health facilities from Voigt Drive. Note that access via Voigt Drive will be available from the west only. Closures of Southbound Genesee Avenue and the Genesee Avenue/La Jolla Village Drive Intersection: Beginning Sunday, September 27 at 6 p.m. and continuing through Tuesday, September 29 at 12 p.m., a full closure of the southbound lanes on Genesee Avenue will be in place from Executive Drive to the UTC Transit Center. Full Closures of Rose Canyon Bike Path: Beginning Tuesday, September 8 and continuing for approximately two weeks, nighttime full closures of the Rose Canyon Bike Path will be in effect for crews to conduct landscaping work. Construction of Trolley Tunnel Underpass at La Jolla Colony Drive: Starting March 3, crews began construction of the Trolley underpass at La Jolla Colony Drive. To accommodate construction, lanes on La Jolla Colony Drive will be reconfigured to provide one lane in each direction. Construction is expected to be complete by late 2019. Lane Closures on Northbound I-5: On Sunday, August 30, intermittent lane closures will be in place on northbound I-5 between the Balboa Avenue off-ramp and the Mission Bay Drive on-ramp. Full Closure of Ocean Beach Bike Path: Beginning Monday, February 3 at 6 a.m., a temporary full closure of the Ocean Beach Bike path will go into effect between Pacific Highway and Morena Boulevard. The closure will be in place for approximately four weeks while crews replace the bike path and install a handrail. The bike path is anticipated to reopen by 6 p.m. on Friday, February 28. Permanent Realignment of Rose Canyon Bike Path: In summer 2019, two sections of the Rose Canyon Bike Path will be relocated to the newly constructed permanent bike path. A portion of the temporary bike path that is now located on the shoulder of Interstate 5 will move to the newly constructed path by Monday, June 17. A second portion of the temporary bike path, now located along I-5 from north of Santa Fe Street to just north of SR 52, will move to the newly constructed path by Wednesday, July 3.
