The Coastal Rail Trail is part of a connected 44-mile bike trail between the City of Oceanside and the City of San Diego. In spring 2014, SANDAG, in cooperation with the City of Oceanside, completed a portion of the planned trail between Oceanside Boulevard and Wisconsin Avenue. 

The new bike path is located on the west side of railroad property owned by the North County Transit District. There is now a continuous bike path from Oceanside Boulevard connecting directly to the Oceanside Transit Center. Class I bike paths are bikeways that are physically separate from vehicular traffic.
