Inland Rail Trail - Completed Segments

Cherimoya Drive to Mar Vista Drive and North Drive to North Melrose Drive (Phase 2)
People biking on the Inland Rail TrailIn January 2021, SANDAG completed the construction of three miles of the Inland Rail Trail in the County of San Diego and the City of Vista. The three-mile section of the Inland Rail Trail is divided into south and north segments. 

South segment: The south segment extends 2.5 miles between Cherimoya Drive and Mar Vista Drive through unincorporated San Diego County and the City of Vista. The bike path is located on the north side of the North County Transit District (NCTD) rail tracks between Cherimoya Drive and York Drive, and on the south side of the NCTD rail tracks between Woodland Drive and Mar Vista Drive. 

North segment: The north segment extends 0.5 miles between North Drive in the City of Vista and the intersection of North Melrose Drive and West Bobier Drive in the City of Oceanside. This segment of the bike path is located on the north side of the NCTD rail tracks. 
 
There are now 10.5 continuous miles of separated, multi-use path between the Escondido Transit Center and Mar Vista Drive in the City of Vista.

In early 2017, SANDAG, in cooperation with the City of San Marcos, completed a one-mile segment of the Inland Rail Trail between North Pacific Street and Cherimoya Drive. This section of the bike path is located on the north side of the NCTD rail tracks.
