Construction of Border to Bayshore Bikeway began in July 2023 and is expected to open to the public in Spring 2025.
Budget and Project Funding
TransNet, the regional half-cent sales tax for transportation administered by SANDAG, is funding the cost of planning, preliminary engineering, and environmental analysis of the Border to Bayshore Bikeway. The project is part of the $200 million Regional Bike Plan Early Action Program approved by the SANDAG Board of Directors in September 2013.
Construction costs for the Border to Bayshore Bikeway are estimated to be approximately $18.5 million.
