Preliminary design and environmental work for the project has been funded with $10 million from the state’s Traffic Congestion Relief Program and $12.6 million from the TransNet extension regional sales tax measure for a total of $22.6 million. The cost to build the SR 94 Express Lanes Project is estimated to be between $500 million and $600 million depending on the alternative chosen. The funding for this project would come from federal, state, and local sources.
