Construction began in June 2016 and wrapped up in late 2017.

The total cost of the project was $28.1 million. Project funding sources included $3.4 million in federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds, $3.7 million in Federal Transit Administration funds, and $21 million from TransNet, the regional half-cent sales tax for transportation administered by SANDAG.
