Amtrak completed all construction between Carlsbad Village Drive and Palomar Airport Road in February 2012.

The total cost of the project was $18.4 million. It is funded primarily by Amtrak, with additional funds from the state Traffic Congestion Relief Program and local TransNet revenues.
