Budget and Project Funding
TransNet, the regional half-cent sales tax for transportation administered by SANDAG, is partially funding the cost of planning, design, and construction of the University Bikeway. The Senate Bill 1 Active Transportation Program (SB1 ATP) and California State Transportation Agency Transit and Inner-City Rail Capital Program (CalSTA TIRCP) are also sources of funding. Overall project costs for the University Bikeway are currently estimated to be approximately $18.5 million. The project is part of the $200 million Regional Bike Plan Early Action Program approved by the SANDAG Board of Directors in September 2013.
